PAPER PANZER BUILD

This section is for builds that are not strictly Tamiya or Heng Long. For instance, replacing the electronics from a WSN or Matorro, or even a scratch-build.

PAPER PANZER BUILD

Post by c.rainford73 »

Hello again. I wanted to start with a simple introduction to another build I plan on starting very soon.

It's a Jagdsturmtiger that I purchased from Mr Hugill here on the forum. It has a Tamiya Tiger I lower resin upper hull superstructure and am incredibly long gun with the pepperpot muzzle break.

I've added metal king tiger exhausts. It will have heavy duty barrel elevation and recoil. Should be fun designing some metal mechanisms for the elevation and recoil setupImage

I've just ordered some sprues from the AAF tank museum store so I can complete the engine deck and front hull.

Much work to do so it will test my skills for sure. ImageImageImageImageImageImage

I can't wait to see your take on it, I think I'll be getting a heavy dose of sellers remorse very shortly

You need to put a huge concrete block to the back of this tank, like on construction cranes, otherwise it might take a sniff.

Yes the wheels are just outstanding and I'm very happy to have it in my collection  Unfortunately due to time constraints this build will progress slowly, but as long as parts arrive it will motivate me to spend time with it and do bits here and there.

So a nice weekend off and I have taken advantage of some time with the kids and my hobbyImage

I received a nice package from Danville and most of the Tamiya sprues I need for this build.

So far the upper hull is just about dialed in and the gun elevation and recoil is ready for my servos and brackets. No traverse it's just too damn heavy. Image

I have decided to make the upper casemate detachable from the upper deck for easy access to the battery and electronics. Simple magnets and friction fit will do.

The rear engine hatch is fitted and I want to use the early air intake with dual hoses. I like the cobbled and reused 1946 look. What if??

So now I await some gearboxes and sprockets still undecided on tracks not sure of anyone still makes and aftermarket metal track for the Tamiya tiger I. Hmmmm Image

Thanks for looking in ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

These are excellent little pieces by the way..... On the Schumo website they call them (Polymethoxylen) bearings for the idler wheel.

They are so simple and easy to install. Tom was kind enough to include them in the kit.
