cruiser tanks you got to love them

This section is for builds that are not strictly Tamiya or Heng Long. For instance, replacing the electronics from a WSN or Matorro, or even a scratch-build.

Hey all

I know it has been silent for some time, but work has been going on.
And the cromwell is now ready for its new home.
But not before you all get an update on it.

And a family picture.

The turret boxes, frond an rear fenders, tow hitch and surge light come from shapeways, so if there is any interest I'll try to make them available.

Next is a lot of work on the A30 challenger, but I also got contacted by a tank collector that wants me to build him a tank and as a reward I get to tag along next year in normandy, tanks in town and marked garden.
So I couldn't really resist that.

Hope you like it.

I can only repeat what the others have said, apart from. . . . "cruiser tanks you got to love them."
At the moment, I hate them because I'm so jealous :{

Hi everyone

Its been a wile since I updated any of my topics here, so wile I'm on my typing char lets try to fix that a bit.

Lets start with my favourite tank off all the A30 challenger.
I found out that the 3D file from WOT had so many flaws in it that i threw it away and made a new one.

Image

Also had to make something to hold the spare tracks. the big problem with those is that there is NO reference for those.
Because the one in Overloon doesn't have them any more. also made the lights look a bit better.

Image

Mounted the light. and I will try to make it work.

Image

Scratch made the antenna mount.

Image

Also a lot of work went in to all the brackets that have to be made (I'm like halfway)

Image

Image

I have decided I wont be mounting the exhaust deflector so I will have to make the screen a bit more detailed.

Image

Something every tanker needs a crow bar.

Image

If there is anyone that knows how to adjust the arms on the figures please tell me (ore any good video). Because I don't like my crew to be sticking out off the tank wile in combat.

Image

Next up is a comet I'm building for a mate off mine.
It is a ludwigh kit that I'll make a few tiny adjustments on.

Image

Image

They just fit but I haven't broken any off these gearboxes yet so Ill put one in this one two.

Image

First try on a 3D printed gun mantled.

Image

Not fully there yet.

Image

Image

Also have a cromwell under construction for someone but that is a bit on the back burner because I have to tell him it is going to be a bit more expensive than he tough :shh:

Image

I'm a bit of a rivet counter, so I need some reference material for these

Hi everyone

I did some more work on the challenger.
Somewhere I might have gone a bit mad.

So lets start with the crew.
I decided I wanted to do something fun with them.
So I drilled out there heads and body, so I could make them turn there heads.

Image

Image

Still need to find a third crew member I could do this with.

Next I needed something that looked like it kept the stowage boxes closed, so I came up with these.

Image

Image

Image

Okay next something that will hold the tools.

Image

I always build them open so I can get the tools out if I want.

Image

Image

Found that the hull was slowly collapsing in on itself.

Image

Image

So made some walls in it.

Image

Image

Next up were the frond fender brackets, I copied the shape from the ones that came with the Ludwig kit, only thinner.

Image

Image

Image

If I put the screws in, they will go flat to the armour.

Okay now the parts I didn't think I was going to make.
The final drive oil fillers.

Image

Image

Because I will probably have the hatches open a lot I needed to make the one drivers periscope.

Image

Image

Image

It helps if you have the real thing handy (this is a russian one but I have a complete British one in the car)

Image

Image

And to finish this post (so I can get back to building)
The birth cage.

Image

Image

This is the early model (its an early challenger) so it differs from the one's on the comet.

Image

So now back to building.
