Object 704 ?????? 704
I have always wanted to do one of these, they are in World of Tanks, and although it never got beyond the prototype, it is an awesome looking tank destroyer. Strictly speaking it is based on the IS2 & IS3, but as these are not readily available I have ordered a complete metal late version KV1 lower hull, along with low steel ratio gearboxes, and metal tracks.
The entire upper hull will be 3D printed.
It might look fairly easy, all flat panels etc, but getting all of the panels to line up was a complete pain. The mantlet likewise. I looked at numerous photo's of the real thing, rendered models, and all sorts of scale models, and I don't think I found one that is a 100% match with the original. I can therefore rest easy that no one can say 'that's not right',
I have done the citadel and barrel etc, but need the lower hull in my grubby paws before I can check I have the dimensions to match it, and before I can start on the rear deck.

Re: Object 704 ?????? 704
The Russians seemed to have developed hundreds of these prototypes, if the numbers are anything to go by... Clearly, though, number is no indication of size:
268 seems even more massive..

Re: Object 704 ?????? 704
There were only a couple of flaws with the 704 design, if the crew hadn't been so fussy about being choked half to death on the breech fumes, being dismembered by the recoil, and not being able to move around/reload in the cramped interior, I am sure it would have been a sure fire success.

Re: Object 704 ?????? 704
Pretty sure Object 268 is based on the T10, so couple of extra road wheels.

That will teach me to try and interpret a rendered image from a bad angle. After all that work I found a kit picture that had a much better view. This looks more like it.
