Panther Gs Detail upgrades

This section is for builds that are not strictly Tamiya or Heng Long. For instance, replacing the electronics from a WSN or Matorro, or even a scratch-build.

Thank you Xrad, my reference tank only has one, though.

My mistake. I was thinking of the King Tiger!

Howdy. Before moving to the next steps I took care of the hull deck features. The brackets for the wooden blocks that act as stops when the hatches are opened were part of the voyager set. A feature I was missing on the 1/16 Panther were the two weld lines on the deck around the turret ring. Just scribed channels in where these are supposed to be and weld lines added with Vallejo Putty. Some Mr Surfacer to blend everything together. Image

Progress on the side details. Couldn't yet find a proper tool to make the front hatch bolt detail.
The side detail is beefed up a bit, because the yoyager pe is rather thin with .3mm and what I saw on the Munster tanks, the tickness of details like the tool or space track racks is more like 1-2 cm. So anything between 0.8-1.3mm should be fine. Here is a shot of the track hangers. Image

Put some primer down today. The various details look much more like belonging together now. The grills look really nice too.Image

Now that most of the side details are on it is time to move towards the fenders. I thought it would be easier to do on a proper support. So I went with the Taigen lower and a set of Panther steel wheels, that I would like to try for another lookImage

A quick note on the Voyager PE. While it is easier to work with compare to ABER, it is also quite thin, but the pre cut grooves for bending are wide and deep and tend to break during adjustments. So it is a good idea to run down a line of solder along these to strengthen them. So far it works fine.

Good morning. Finally made one side of the fenders. The front end gets a few supports and should be stiff enough. The sides should get some reinforcements to be more durable for the extended handling during rc use. Still a useful detail upgrade. The bolts are from Knupfer. 1.5mm heads 1mm high, sanded down for a better look.Image
