AERO MATE Panther II

This section is for builds that are not strictly Tamiya or Heng Long. For instance, replacing the electronics from a WSN or Matorro, or even a scratch-build.

Good morning Tankerman...
nothing happened here for a long time.
The Panther II stood unused on the shelf - much too bad for such an expensive model.
At least it got a WeCoHe turret a good three years ago:

and then there was a break again...

But now the Panther II got colour:

Thanks for looking and have a nice day

God I love those tracks...
1:16 was my scale. Until 'Konan' came into my life... an Armortek 1:6 Tiger 1!
... Now followed by a Panther G, 'Gunther'!

I'm a happy man. 8)

Herr Hamm, I had missed this thread before. It is, indeed, a long saga, with significant frustrations and setbacks. However, even after time to set the Panther II aside for a while, you are back to working brilliantly. Bravo!

Hello,
today the last parts for the new gearbox finally arrived.
Drawn the design for the gearbox housing with Fusion360 and the 3D-printer did a good job of printing:

With the high total weight of the model, there was not much choice as far as the gearboxes were concerned.
Modellcraft gearboxes were used, but with the shorter gear ratio in 1:18.
The Panther has additional a 3:1 countershaft, this gives a ratio of 54:1.
Together with Hobbywing Quicrun Fusion SE 1200kV sensored brushless motors with integrated controller this is a good siolution.
The 21T motors are only placeholders:

The installation is a bit tricky, because first the two bearing housings are screwed to the hull sides on the left and right.
Then the gearbox with the two half-shells is pulled against it.
Here it is installed:

Then a test drive was made to the backyard.......
The result is a big smile - it drives great.
All things come to a good end.
