Very cool and I am really excited about the motorized aspects. Are you printing in ABS or PLA, and do you bathe it afterwards to smooth/bake to strengthen it or just going stock for now?

Just plain old PLA straight off the printer, no need for any post print treatment, it comes out as a smooth gloss finish as standard.

On the home run now. Need to get the electronics working and installed. Muzzle flash and emitter is easy enough, I have a barrel insert to hold them both, but do I compromise the model by hooking up a servo recoil? There is no invisible way of doing that.

I agree with Carl. Recoil would be fantastic but would need to be well hidden. Would it be possible to hide it in some piece of scenery under the slide? A mound of earth or ammunition box?

I have hooked the gun up to the Arduino, ignore the Tiger hull, the board is just sitting in there for battery power. It is a completely stand alone unit. It will be activated via a landmine approach. This doesn't mean that every time a tank runs over the switch it fires, as the Arduino is programmable, so I will set it up for a lengthy reload time.

Next up is to build something to put the sensors and hit led's in, so that it can be shot at, and put out of action.

I have got another two of these boards on their way, plus a 2560 board that I will try and use to power a tank. They are all only around £5-£7 a time.

How close do the sensors need to be? I could do another building, probably very ruined but that would be alongside I would have thought. Alternatively, I have some "logs" that could sit in front of the gun as protection, and the sensors could actually be fitted in line with the gun. How were you thinking of hiding the landmine?

Of course, if you already have an idea I will not stand in your way of building it

The sensors can go anywhere. though just one should be enough. Same with the led's. I am looking for a case to print, and will design a few ammo crates to take the sensors and led's. They can then be placed anywhere on scenery without worrying too much about wires.
