Tiger build (mid or late depending on how lazy I'm feeling!)

This section is for builds that are not strictly Tamiya or Heng Long. For instance, replacing the electronics from a WSN or Matorro, or even a scratch-build.

Tom,

Have just re-read your build, to give me inspiration for my next project which is a Mato all metal Tiger 1, the postman struggled up the driveway with it yesterday, I do not know what to do with it yet, mid, early or late, if it turns out half as good as this I will be happy.

I do have to say your tools with the wooden handles are a work of art, you could sell them in complete sets, I for one would be first in line.

Thanks for sharing.

One of the best Tiger builds around Tom. And you certainly knocked out first class work far faster than some of us.

I second that Sov. Tom it's amazing. Faster than most of us? Faster than all of us! And really no compromise on quality.

I have to say that the Hobby Boss / Trumpeter Tiger hull and turret is a much better base for anyone going for mid / late production variant of the Tiger 1 - but it really needs to be wedded to the Heng Long lower to work, as you have done here. Lawd knows, had I had this option when I started out I am sure I would have taken it.

Can you just tell us a bit more about how you sorted out the electrics and recoil in the turret and how you connected them to the HL lower?

Thanks, Tanks.

I haven't finished drawing this thing...because there are no known surviving examples or drawings, and the photos are not great; but also because it involved some subtle angles. The two bases were slanted because they were fixed to the slanted rear wall, but the barrel ring was vertical. The bases were parallel to the rear wall, but the ring was turned because the turret was turned. So, I haven't drawn the arms, where all of this was reconciled.

I hope these sketches are of some use.

As you see from the above on this page, the resurrection was actually about the commander's gun. :haha:
