3D printable Cromwell Mk. IV in scale 1/16

This section is for builds that are not strictly Tamiya or Heng Long. For instance, replacing the electronics from a WSN or Matorro, or even a scratch-build.

Hi guys,
have a really big update today.
Turret is almos ready.
I am just playing with some last details, but its basically done.
Trying to print lens for the lights from the PMMA filament (plexiglas) instead of the transparent resin.
It looks more interesting because of the patterns.
And it will be more durable, of course.
Unpainted transparent resin doesnt last very long when used in exterior.

Doing some small changes of the parts, mostly because of the easier assembly.
Waiting for the suspension springs and bearings to arrive.

I will post a lot of photos with details of the turret, but that turret need to be painted at first.
All that small details are barely visible now, on the unpainted white plastic.

So here is the video.Gun was tested with Arduino Nano.

Yes.PMMA Lens was printed sucesfully.I like them.I can develop some resin-printed Lens with pattern, but i am happy with this for now.

Have new video with the Commanders hatch.
This hatch contains 5 movable parts.
I think its good enough for the 1/16 scale.

I’m quite looking forward to this one, especially now my printer is almost set up and ready to go, I wonder perhaps you could get a centaur from this with very little modifications and maybe a challenger anti tank
It’s your tank it’s what you make it

  Keeping detailed parts to scale is always one of the biggest challenges, and you've done an excellent job there.
Smaller, finer, printed parts tend to be fragile in my experience, and break easily; but ought to be good and robust when printed from superior plastics.
I love the spot lamp!. I used a T34 lamp on my Comet project, for a working spot lamp, but yours has a more refined and believable look. The ultra-compact recoil and elevation fittings, smack of design genius!.

Terrific work, Tomáš! I'm very impressed with the acrylic spotlight lens and all the fine details.

One question about the structure of the turret, though; is it a resin printed shell over an FDM printed chassis? Just wondering about the two different colours internally and externally. Seems like a good way to keep strength up and costs down without resorting expensive and hard-to-print engineering resins.

Awesome man. I'm ever so tempted by the kit. Cannot wait to see how it turns out.
