Hoping Grompix reads this - Asiatam into Elmod wiring?

Post by wibblywobbly »

Does anyone know which wires go where from the Asiatam to an Elmod board?

Muzzle Flash is ok when spring contacts close.

Barrel Motor:
Green = Barrel Motor Neg?
Red = Barrel Motor Common Pos?
Barrel Motor works ok.

Blue/White = Solder together or use on/off switch?

The problem....
Recoil Motor:
Yellow = Elmod Gun Neg?

Micro Switch:
Black = to mains switch negative?

Mine may have gone out of synch, so I am wondering where those two pins should be above and below the recoil final drive cog when I power the tank up
plus
What are the jumper settings...Tamiya compatible?

Hoping someone can help!

Cheers

hi wibbly , you wire it up as you would for a normal h/l apart from the white wire has to go to a permanent live and the black wire goes to a negative, you can junk the blue wire
did you get the cd with the chinglish instructions on it, if not you can download them from tankzone
regards,ice
ps my jumper setting on the tls  for the recoil unit is off

One small favour

Thats good as the blue wire fell off anyway!  ::)

I now have another little problem, can you possibly post up a pic of the recoil gearbox? I had to remove the sliding bar and large cog to remove a screw that fell in there, I now need to know where those two little spigots above and below the cog need to be when the tank is powered up. The bottom one controls the power microswitch, and the top one pushes on the recoil slider.

At least both motors are working now.

Cheers

Is this picture any good Rob?

I've also attached a doc file I made when wiring up an Asiatam unit into my PzIII. Don't know if it will be any help.

Cheers

Thanks Chris, thats another one for my wiring library!  :D

I must have bought the Friday afternoon recoil unit. Damn wires keep falling off without me noticing and I never made a note of where they go.

I have re-assembled the unit now, and the recoil works but after each shot the recoil motor doesn't stop, it drops down to walking pace and edges round until it triggers another shot...I can't stop it no matter what I do with the left stick?

The Elmod muzzle flash gives a much bigger kick than the Asiatam one, I have a high intensity yellow led in there and the difference between the two is amazing.

If anyone has a pic of the motor end of the unit showing where all of the wires attach I would be very grateful. I am guessing that the barrel elevation circuit is keeping the recoil active somewhere along the line.

It is too!  :-X Advancing senility is a terrible thing.  ;)

Well I had the wiring all done ok. I just cannot figure out why the recoil motor wouldn't stop completely.

I have had to put the tank battery on charge and will have another go tomorrow. I have noticed before how the Elmod board plays up when the power drops off, so I guess its better to make sure that its running on a fully charged battery before playing around any more.

Thanks for the pics, they have been really helpful.

Its running on 4 channel, I gave up on trying to make 6 work with my tx.

I have had intermittent problems with my Elmod board since the day it arrived, all sourced back to the 8 pin socket, I finally cried 'surrender' today and packed up the Thinktank module, I am sending it back to Thomas at Elmod for testing. It does my head in as power appears and disappears randomly from various pins. I removed the asiatam recoil unit altogether, put the old turret back together and turned it back on...and there is no power to the turret motors or the muzzle flash now. I am guessing that there is either a dodgy chip or a broken solder joint somewhere. I tested all of the motors and the muzzle wiring, and even ran them straight off the battery as well as via the plug using a battery and they were all ok.

I probably won't see it again for a month, they take ages to post new stuff, let alone test something that has been returned??  :-\  I ordered an IR unit last week and no sign of that yet, and as for the Creeping Death turret that I sent back to the States for mods a while back.....

Oh well, I will just have to do a re-paint while I sit and twiddle my thumbs!

Thanks for your help...anyone want to buy an Asiatam recoil unit?  ::)

Cheers
