Norse's Tiger I Early

Post by Norse »

Well this is the build thread (kinda) for my Tiger I

Originally it started life as a non S&S tank and the first mod was a lil flag
http://www.wowurl.net/tank/SUNP0284.JPG

then massacred a Snow leopard for the S&S gear
http://www.wowurl.net/tank/080921_215659.jpg i dont like the smoke unit it just annoys me, messy and noisy in the bad way. in the pic you can spot that the Volume control is not coming out the base of the tank, it is due to me eventually having plans to have to never turn the tank upside down, so i just remove a clip and then lift off the top to allow easy access without having to remove all the tracks and such

i then moved the aerial to its correct position which was fairly easy to do, unscrew it where it is, make hole where it should be then screw back in

Added a fan onto the upper hull to aid cooling, was attached via trusty Cable ties. Tip for getting cheap fans, Hard drive cooler bay's about £7 for one but have 2 fans in them which are jsut the right size for putting in a tank, they  work out cheaper than buying the fans seperate.

the above picture was just after i painted it with Tamiya German grey (via brush as i couldnt find a spray can of the flipping stuff)
http://www.wowurl.net/tank/080921_215516.jpg you can see on the wheels the differance in colour is quite a bit

Next mods wil be painting some of the details on the tank with the following paints that i got from Games workshop, the paints are easy to work with as they wash out easy and can be painted very easily.
Bestial Brown a dark muddy kind of colour
Snakebite Leather, Orangey yellow leather knid of colour
Boltgun Metal, basically just a dark metal look
CHaos black.....its black what else can i say

ALso on the To do soon list is hack out the battery compartment and have it so the battery is just secured inside the tank so its easy to change battery/dont have to turn the tank over.

NEW THING 9pm 22/09/2008
http://www.wowurl.net/tank/080922_210024.jpg Havent hacked out the battery compartment yet but have moved the battery and on/off switch inside, the lil white bits of paper say ON - OFF and >

Not gona do twin batteries, gona end up putting in a around 3000MAH battery so i get alot of "play" time.

Wont do a built in charge circuit because A) other tanks B) i have a habit of making batteries rather hot and dont wana risk melting plastic :P

am currently just painting the tools on the front to see how they look will post pic in bout 30min

the 3000mah should do well although with 2 you would get about 6000mah

still use the yellow bricks from h/long and twinning them gives me 3400mah until they die then will go like you and get the higher mah

Kind regards rob

prolly easiest just to go straight for a high mah one bit less weight in the tank and bit more space in the tank too

yeah the space can be an issue but the weight is a bonus more weight=more traction and improved suspension helps too ;)

more weight also makes it more realistic, but you might sink into mud!!! :)

i plan to make the tank water proof upto about 7.5cm which'd make the water goto just about where the top of the tracks are.

Didnt do much on the Tiger this evening as i've been fixing a snowleopards broken S&S board. i was gona convert a non S&S Panzer III but i got annoyed because it such a tiny small tank its too fiddly inside wheras the tiger has ALOT of space
