this photo is supposedly Slovakia, ie the neighbor of Moravia, your idea of ??colors is correct, I'm looking forward to the result

Great picture Mr 88, this unit seems to have had odd machines.
My one has no visible gap between the casemate and ersatz Schurzen where other machines in the same unit had a huge gap stuffed full of wheels, tracks & other gear
In some ways I wish I had chosen the other versions so I could really indulge my "StuG Life" habit.............. :shh:

"...the thick haze of solvent fumes": oh, yes, Bix: each Tuesday the modeling gang arrives at my basement. I try to have a good primer smell ready for them, so as they enter the door at least one exclaims, "Ah, it smells good in here!" Maybe someone could make a fortune by developing a non-toxic aerosol spray of that familiar odor.

Thought I'd try a bit of pre-shading on this. I've not done it seriously on a German tank so thought why not give it a go.
Went a bit heavy but the way I weather, that should be ok.
I also got a little creative with the second side of the upper armour. I made small cut outs in the lower section to try to replicate flame cut openings that might have been used to assist in the securing of the bolts in the lower plates. I should have done it to the first side, but thats now hindsight :problem:

Im still trying to decide what and how much stowage objects to load on the rack. Keeping in mind my model will be as it was the day before it was knocked out.

That shading really made it look like a turtle!!
But I have something that fixed that ;)
A lightened blend of Tamiya dark yellow 2, white, and Mig late war 715 yellow.
Seems to be ok
Although I’ve just realised how much missing Zimmerit I have to paint as exposed primer :/

The green is next. Looking at the period picture images, and the colour plate artists impression, this Stug has a lot more green on it than what I'd say is normal.
Ruling out an actual green base with the others over that, I went with the same shade that has been used on F05, King Tiger, Dozerpanther and 111 panther.
The right size green patches, general shape & placement from the one side I can see is near enough, the other side and upper faces were pure supposition.
I used a loose bit of cardboard to casually mask the lower edges of the side skirts, I assume these were somehow done while leaning on the tank but sitting in the grass before being attached, which is all I have to explain the odd angled bare yellow patches on the bottom edges

Still amazes me that each tank I do that has a same/similar base coat of my Dunklegelb mix has differing results on the camo shades

Redbrown asap ;)
