Hagen Zimmerit dies
Hagen Zimmerit dies
I've not used these on a model yet, but did try making impressions in Milliput with them. The results were promising. :)
They come from a German source via Ebay. As they're specifically aimed at 1/16 models, they should scale well.

This has become quite a nice Zimmerit tutorial! While I must say that my favorite Zimm is the early, very artistic, perfectly done jobs such as on Tiger 1's. The late war, chipped, broken, and hurriedly applied style sure suits some tanks! I would imagine after enough service and combat it's probably more realistic too?

Herman, your "margarine" looks quite nice! Keep buttering along! :haha:

Cheers,
Eric.

German cars, German girls, German beer, German firearms, German Shepherds, German motorcycles... Not necessarily in that order though!

B_Man wrote:Nice work Herman. When I do Miliput zim I roll out thin sheets between damp clingfilm using a rolling pin. Its easy to stick it to the surface of the tank, cut away the excess and go to town with your stamp.
I gave that a whirl............(insert poop emoji)
Nope, ended up with a mess of gladwrap & putty :{
Never made the tank.
The stuff is obviously off but when the outer layer is carved off it works near enough until I can get new stuff.

I've seen those too matey, assume they will be as good as any stamp can be.
Its the base material I am having the hassle with :/

Ole Margarine.............apparently Tamiya make some sort of similar stuff thats not normal putty. It comes in a 2 part configuration that you must blend to activate.
Im going to look for it rather than this Miliput for replacement.

More Margarine action !
A bonus outcome is that the inherent inaccuracies of the application process and Miliput variation is it looks damaged without having to damage it :haha:
Hoping to get the Zimmerit completed and the hull secured in place this weekend.
Then the fun can begin!

Done, the margarine is on !
Super Rugby has begun down here and it’s time to look for the renaissance of NZ Rugby after the last disastrous season. :/

Hope to get the thing sealed up, and primed tomorrow.

Whenever I look at Zimmerit of this type, HB- images of 'Shreddies' cereal come to mind (and no, not the fart-suppressing underpants :D )
Shreddies- Zimmerit lookalike

I'm glad to see others have a "yellow and splodgy" phase of the build as well! :)
