Pantiger
I won this "panther" on eBay for £57. After I researched it I realised that it's not actually a panther but a mash up of a panther and tiger because Heng Long were lazy.
I wanted it as a project to upgrade anyway which is why I didn't mind it was 27mhz.
So because it's not a "real" tank I have a couple of options.
1 - butcher it and make one accurate frankentank from it
2 - do a unique 'what if' tank. I'm thinking mad Max style. What if Hitler had nuclear capabilities and pushed the button in the last minutes of the war type of thing.
I'm more interested in option 2 and would like peoples opinions and ideas please.
I like the commander better than the new German commanders so he will be promoted to my KT (painted properly)
The gun looks rubbish.
I like how the MG in the tank is actually a toy MG jammed through a hole lol.
Any idea what the flat silver things are?
Is it worth selling the old control and guts of the tank? I will keep the motors and BB unit.
Thanks for looking.
Will upload pics when I get on WiFi

Re: Pantiger
Heng Long are one of the largest Toy makers in the world,
They were looking for a new market and produced a 1/16 scale r/c Tank,
The Tiger 1,
It was a massive success which left Heng Long with a problem,
The most profitable time of the year in the toy market was approaching and they had nothing to take up the slack, A bright idea occurred to the staff in the r/c office,
Use the Hull and running gear of the Tiger 1 and bodge a body to fit and so Christmas was saved for Heng Long and the "Pantiger" was born and it still sells in very large numbers.
Just as long as no one believes the thing has anything to do with an actual Tank no harm will be done.

Good Afternoon!
I remember a few, notable early Builds where Forum members turned the lowly Pan Tiger into excellent, early Panthers. Not an undertaking for the faint of heart. Beautiful stuff when done.
regards,
Painless

Go ahead. Your model, do as you wish. I would look forward to a post apocalyptic style tank being built. I am looking for a cheep modern tank to do a Mad Max style beast. When I have completed my Challenger.NAB wrote:No one feeling the mad Max tank??

I'm actually impressed by the detail on the commander.
Obviously newer tanks they have saved some money on the quality of tank commander.
