Magic grime!!
I will be admit that despite giving it a go on the less obvious areas under the running gear, but when I fist put it over what I consider to be the best paint job I’ve ever done, I had a bit of a (insert poop emoji) moment.
Again backing myself to succeed, carried on and worked in stages around the lower hull & sides,
Rear plate and under the guards.
As a new product to me, I will say it’s very easy to apply, has absolutely no smell which is important for doing weathering inside, cleans off with cheap wipes ( $2 a 30 pack here for makeup removal use) and can be re worked even once dry to get the right look.
Can it be done with other wash/ weathering products? Yeah of course , but it requires no real skill in application, a bit to remove to get the required look. And it doesn’t cause the Mrs to bitch about the pong of solvent based washes
I will say that the product would be better used on smooth surfaces tanks like any that don’t have Zimmerit, or as much sticky out details like a Panther, but for my first time using it, & I would definitely recommend it .
Herman, I have some Magic Grime, and I am eager to try it, but busy in other projects just now. However, did you use Magic Grime on the road wheels, idler, sprocket, and lower hull? They look quite good on your Panther.
After drying overnight, the entire tank has blended really well.
I forgot to mention that I used Mr Newboys product after sealing with the same matt sealer I use on all my tanks, that being for paintings & artwork etc.
I might try a few rain streaks here & there just to try that too
Almost fully dressed.
Spare track links all on, the retaining pins all put in and one tow cable placed. I could have sworn I had 3 cables, but the damn tow cable burglar must have been around,
I will get another sometime.
Only thing left now is to put the tool clamps on & match them to the overall finish which won’t be hard.
It looks dark in pics but as it’s set in a very gloomy period of the winter and there is also storms every day here it seems to fit the mood!
I won’t add any pigment to this one unlike the king Tiger I did in a similar setting , the grime has done that for me, and the Zimmerit holds more compound that normal, so it has the tone I want
Once I run it outside the tracks will get shine on the chevrons and look better.
Oh and the bucket of course.
Are you going to do something about the tracks that look like new from the factory?
Yes mate, going to run the paint off to get the chevrons shined up, and maybe some dirt pigment if necessary.
But if so, only on the tracks.
It hasn't had a proper drive on its tracks as yet, so they kind of are new from the factory !!
Herman!
I looked at the photos of the initial Magic Grime application and yes, my first thought was "OhNo! He has ruined that beautiful paint job!" Good to see that the product cleans up as advertised and leaves a cool looking weathering job in it's wake. That's one excellent Panther that you have there!

Painless
