In a fit of madness... KV2

I decided to try a bit of modeling proper and decided to convert a KV2 captured turret to a Russian turret. Been done many times I know but I wanted a relatively easy project to start with. I filled in the German cupola hole with 1.5mm plasticard, did a bit of filling and sanding and this is the result. Primer arrived this morning so I got it primed. Not perfect by a long way but I hope it looks ok(ish)......

Looks as if you did an excellent job. I can’t see any signs of your modification at all! That’s a skill I need to work on.

Ah well - first mistake made. I just looked at a drawing of the turret and realized (noticed) that the right hand periscope is not in fact inline with the left hand and should be in a more rearwards position - cut it off and start again time!

A bit more progress:
Have installed the electronics in the hull and turret:

I wanted a power switch behind the rear door in the turret but the slip ring wiring was not of a gauge suitable to carry the required current so I installed a relay in the hull in order to greatly reduce the current through the slip ring wires.
Here is a rather boring pic of the inside of the upper deck:

Probably even more boring - a pic of the upper deck in primer:

I have also adapted the standard unit recoil to use a servo recoil.

Good Morning!
Not boring to me. The KV-2 is one of my favorite tanks and you are doing a bang up job with this one. Following along.
regards,
Painless
