HL USMC Sherman Deep water Wader.

Post by pebblemonkey73 »

I've always been fascinated by the camo schemes used on these USMC shermans,I will be fabricated the trunks for the exhausts and intakes.
Wooden side armour replicated using plasticard. Alot of measuring and scaling from plans.

An interesting variation on the Sherman theme. :) Will it actually be capable of wading, without shorting the electronics, when you've finished it?

Thanks, if it was a DD tank I'd try and waterproof it but as this one depends alot more on the depth of water to wade through, I won't .

Turret primered after finishing the weld beads, now fabricating the trunking using plasticard to create them, looking at extending the smoke pipes for the exhaust. Matt

Fleshing out the trunks and mountings, just got to do some cleaning up, adding mesh to the intakes and lots of weld seams.
Going to add some more detailing as well. Something different for club meets.

Cool looking build Matt

May I ask where you got the dimensions for the um, snorkels? Or did you just guestimate them?

Hi Mick,
Many moons ago I built the Verlinden 1/35th scale deep wading sherman, so I guestimated the dimensions from that kit and various images from the internet including P.E kit plans for the 1/35th scale example.
I'm used to be able to just buying resin Conversion sets for my 1/35 builds so this my largest scratch built converted project so far. I'm hoping once into paint she'll look something like these.
