I think some of the fit issues, are the fact you are trying to make the M4A3 into M4A4. your work is very good.
I am sure, it would have been better as the M4 Firefly. ???

This choice was mine and not Niall's - I'm happy with it as it is.

2 updates today. I've glued the fire extinguishers and repositioned the smoke mortar on the turret as I had put it too far aft than it should be.

While I'm not a fan of Shermans per-se, the Firefly was my first ever tank model(Matchbox 1/76) back in the mid 1970's , so these have a soft spot within me.
They just seem to be the right formula for what a combat tank should be.

A few days ago I found a close up photo of the loader's hatch and found I had completly misinterpreted the references I had used to make it. So I've replaced the rivets with nuts shaved off Tamiya M113 road wheels and rebuilt the hinge.

I've just made a tank crew helmet and small and large packs for external stowage. I made a silicon rubber mould from these parts and took resin castings. I got the rubber from an ebay seller who has reasonable prices and excellent customer service. Link to that seller -

Hello Niall,

I've been following your Sherman Firefly build with interest and note that you've recently received some 3D printed parts from Shapeways made specifically for a Sherman Firefly. I'm currently building a Sherman Firefly Mk Ic (Hybrid), using the Tamiya M4A3 kit as my base kit (and yes - I know the changes required for that kit  ).

When I search Shapeways for parts for a 16th scale British/Commonwealth Sherman I find very little, but note that you recently received some parts for a British Sherman - can you provide any info on who's producing them and if they're readily available?

Sincerely,

Chris Preston,
