Profiline Jagdpanzer IV conversion

It's been a while since I've posted a build thread. Some health issues and surgery have kept me away from the work bench, but things are looking up. I've got some other projects to post in the show off thread, but that's another story!

A buddy of mine that I build for ordered this conversion kit for me a while back. I was finally able to get a cheap PzIV to chop up, and I had just finished up his Opel Blitz, so I dove right in. It's a Profiline kit from Asiatam and is really pretty heavy duty resin.
So after a bit of chopping, grinding, and fitting, here's where we're at...

This is the upper hull part being fitted to the PZIV lower...

Still have some trimming to do on the front fenders

Have to do some more fitting on the back of the resin part

Here's the front plates being test fitted...

More to come.

I've managed to get the barrel elevation worked out. I used the standard HL unit and made up an arm for the back end of the barrel. I'll try to get some pictures of the setup and a video of it in operation in the next day or two.

Here's the stowage tie downs installed...

I decided to go with the late style exhaust, so I chopped up some resin for the mounts and made the rest out of copper sheet and brass tube...

I'll post some more as I make some headway.

It's really not too bad. Not glass smooth, but then it doesn't look like it's coated with kitty litter either. I was impressed with how sturdy the main pieces are. I was kind of skittish about running a resin tank, but it looks like it'll take some abuse without coming to pieces. I think it was a pretty good buy for the price. The detail pieces are nicely cast, and the hatches just needed a bit of work to fit. Just have to make some hinges for them now.

I liked the parts well enough to start really thinking about getting their Stug III conversion. Always ONE more project!

The front deck with the hatches had to be installed at a slight angle. Wasn't able to get some lower profile gearboxes, so I just did some adjusting on the front end. I don't think it looks too far out to be really noticeable.

Almost forgot. Here it is with the steel wheels added...

Are you removing a return roller?

I had thought about it, but the mounts are molded on, not the glued on pieces. I guess I'll just leave the 4 rollers. Might make up schurzen plates for it. If you can't fix it, Hide it!

If I come across a good deal on the mounts, I might cut the plastic ones off yet.

Mk modellbau now does them - he has made some to fit my Tamiya but does HL fit ones too.

Now that right there is great work Captain.
I hazard a guess to a third of the cost of a Tamiya, and a lot less stress when it comes to cutting & shutting it

The lead roadwheels are nice, how were they to fit ?
