T-34/76 Beutepanzer Rebuild
As customary we must start another project while another one is already under way you may have noticed I was looking to build a nice running durable T-34/76 captured by the Germans and pressed into service.
I've been working behind the scenes gathering some parts to build the tank in really a rebuild fashion. MichaelC on the forum supplied the custom upper hull and turret.
It has the Taigen quick connection system so I mated it to the full metal Taigen lower hull from Dave ( Forgebear)
I added the metal road wheels sprockets and idlers.
The trick was to fabricate some metal schurzen plates so here's how it sits at this point.
The copper sheets were scraps from a roofer friend and I managed to cut damage sand and rough up the surface to make them look battle worn.
I made a L channel copper bracket system that is epoxied to the hull upper and then the plates are epoxied to the hangers. I did not want the plates to come loose during driving so they are very strong.
I'm still working on the M-3 Lee so this will be the part time build while my other projects speed up or slow down.
Still have to add the schurzen detail bits and pieces but here they are mounted before primer.
Cheers

Hi Soeren. It's approximately 1mm. Thick enough to retain its shape and soft enough to bend and not break.Soeren wrote:Nice one .

After you run it a bit the plates will take on their own look. I've snagged mine so many times that they truly do look war worn. I still need to add some shell hits, though!

Bill I remember a few years ago I built a very nice Heng Long/Taigen Panzer iv and I used plasticard brackets and fenders and wow every time I took it out for a run I had to carry CA glue in my pocketscapt midnight wrote:After you run it a bit the plates will take on their own look. My Panzer III project had a mix of brass hangers and plasticard plates... A little better
Learned my lesson so with this one if I hit something it will be more fun and less worries.

Thank you Adam A nice battle flag is a must to drape over the large turret hatch. I'd like to keep it open as much as possible since the gun MichaelC installed is complete and detailed with the seat and breech.

So I painted light grey heavy epoxy primer last night and added some German Dunkelgelb base coats of paint this morning.
