Heng Long M4 Detailing Build
Hello all
This is my first RC tank and my first model at this bigger scale can i just say thanks to all members for some inspirational ideas. Bit out of practice but here is the build so far.
Making tool holding placements on the hull.
And some straps on tools to simulate fastening
Dry fitting of tools in place
Some work on the turret hatch
drilled out driver and machine gunner periscopes to look a bit better
Fitted a recoil barrel using a servo (tight fit but got it in)
And fitted a IBU2 Pro board with sound card just need to work out a way to make the forward speaker louder for gun firing as bit low volume. I have also changed the battery to lipo.
Future plans are to use AK burnishing fluid on the tracks change all the solid plastic grab handles for brass rods and do some more detailing and get some welds on the fitments. I have got some Mr Surfacer 500 on order for the turret and transmission casing.
As i said before thanks to all for your posts giving me insights to the best way to achieve more realistic look the tank. I am also going to use some poetic licence and make this a British tank even though i dont think we used the 105mm version i action.
Thanks
Darren

Top-notch detailing, I love the springs on the loader's hatch. Really nice touches all around.
I didn't realise Shermans were so big though, given the scale of the Adeptus Astartes it looks more like a Baneblade.

Hello
Been a while but it my sherman is now painted (used plastic soldiers british tank green rattle can) and transfers applied. I changed the tool strapping from being stuck on tools to a bit more realistic, still used the scratch build buckles but then doubled up masking tape cut to strips and coloured in then used brass to make fixing points then pain stakingly threaded fixing point and buckles. still work to do sandbags, antenna and crew gear and stores. Hope you all like?
