Hi Guys thanks for your efforts. Unfortunately I can only find the one photo (shown at the beginning of the thread). have however found a number of other photos;

one of a Zis-5 3k kv-1 prototype http://tankarchives.blogspot.co.uk/2014 ... 5-3-k.html

And one with a t-34 57mm prototype;https://panzerserra.blogspot.co.uk/2014 ... eport.html

I am going to use these to make an educated guess at the mantlet's shape which appears to have a cutout around the mantlet gun port.

Just wanted to post some progress on the mantlet after a nice couple of hours at the worthing tank club. Milliput is still drying, but will be wet sanded to shape once set. in the meantime I will start doing something about the headlight.

Making some solid progress there, wyvern. The mantlet and turret cheeks look great. Is that a port for an IR emitter to the gun's left-hand side?

Thanks Raminator - I was very impressed by your T34/76 its looking rather good. I will update again once I have finished redoing the engine grills and finished the headlight. Your quite right, the 6mm brass tube is the ir port. It is close to the position of the machine gun on the real thing but is a bit oversized but its a necessary compromise if I want to avoid a separate clip on emitter to the barrell. The tank is running a mako board and an anti track recoil board - but in hindsight I should have simply upgrade to an IBU or similar. For the moment I will stick with it though.

Update

Servo recoil - run from mako board
Image
Reworked headlight with 3mm led and scratch built plastic lense with an off switch
Image
Rebuilt the engine grilles with brass mesh and plastic card framing
Image
Doesn't look quite so menacing with a plastic mushroom on the top...

Looks fabulous my friend! I'm working on my kv-2 and I need a real headlight like yours to make mine look real.

Where did you get the lense or hiw did you make it ?

The tank is really coming together nicely
