William did do a 'test' of the new model!
A slower higher torque model is in the post for more sensible testing

Thanks guys, it means alot with the encouragement

I think curiosity got the better of me as I did order slower high torque motors, but they hadn't arrived in time and I wanted to play.

Had some motors left over from Jeep builds, so wanted to see how it would go haha.

The new motors are weeks away still, but I promise a more sensible slow motor will eventually power this model. Should have a top speed of 3.5mph, which ok is still fast for the scale, but it should be ok for our son.

The aim is to have enough torque to drag a tank. Yes I know, overkill but this thing can take it. I hope haha.
I know my daughter is going to want one, so she has a birthday in 6months time, so maybe a variant of this to come.
I sure you guys know we live and enjoy this hobby so we will just keep going.

Dont worry we havent forgotten our other projects. The 251 has some new parts which should help bring some improvements etc

When I was researching the model I thought it would be nice to try and fit a servo in there. But that one choice made alot of other difficult placement of other components. In actual fact the servo becomes part of the supporting structure of the chassis. The servo is tiny, but actually works really well as there is little weight or torque acting on front wheels, so it is able to cope.

Really cant wait for these high torque motors so it can get a full offroad test

First proper garden test after giving this model to our son today for his 7th Birthday
He absolutely loves it and he is the one driving it in the video
phpBB [video]

Wow they grow up fast!

Still a few little details to finish and we need to create a little toolbox looking thing for the battery to hide in and print off a driver, but this worked better than imagined.
Going to make another tractor for our Daughter next year although i can see us making a few more of these and testing some other motors out aswell.

Hope you enjoy the video
