PainlessWolf. September 2019 Winner. Captured Soviet KV-2.

Post by Son of a gun-ner »

PainlessWolf September Winner.

1/16th Captured Soviet KV-2.

The Crackerbox Palace. A captured Soviet KV-2 redesignated as a 754(r) by the Wehrmacht and set up for a planned invasion of Malta early in the War that never came off. While the 'Palace' is a fantasy designation, the tanks were real and when the invasion was shelved, they went back to the Eastern Front to fight against their former masters.
This tank was built by PainlessWolf from a Taigen all metal KV-1 and the excellent Torro KV-2 turret. Lots of extra metal was added over the years including steel gearboxes and a brand new lower with the upgraded bearings. The paint is by PainlessWolf and is from rattle canned Tamiya primer and Model Masters Dunkelgelb overlaid by a hard edge camo pattern applied with brushes and taken from pictures in several books on Stalin's Giants (also from an excellent KV-1 Build here on the forums from years gone by). The 'Palace' is still the largest tank in his collection and stands tall over even the mighty IS-2 and Porsche King Tiger.
