Re: Tamiya Pershing - Alice who?!
Received the battery and connectors from Hobbyking today.
The shortened DMD wires have helped massively, and the speaker wire has also been cut to length.
With the Zippy 4000mAh 2S installed, there's plenty of free space now.
Installation of the battle unit in the turret is next.
Has anyone managed to fit the IR Tx LED in the mantle of the Pershing?
Or is it just stored in the cupola and attached to the barrel for battle?

Thanks for the three replies Tom!
Did you also put the LED into a 9mm tube as per regulations?
Found your build thread, but no pictures...

Weird, I had three notifications and Tapatalk showed three separate posts!Son of a gun-ner wrote:Whatever are you talking about, he only replied once. . . .jimbo_wa wrote:Thanks for the three replies Tom!
Sorted out the rear light today, soldered the old rear wires off the original PCB and replaced them with a red LED that was drilled out to accommodate two small fibre cables.
Needs a bit of clear glue to ensure the fibres stay in position.
Surprised that it didn't need an inline resistor, but it's only 1.6v...

The fibre is 0.75mm from eBay, but the seller I got it from over 3 years ago is no longer selling - I did find this though (various sizes and lengths too):

Re: Tamiya Pershing - Alice who?!
Some very meticulous bits of electronic surgery there, Jimbo. I can even satisfy my own OCD tendencies vicariously with them..
Electronic wire spaghetti is one of those perennial niggles for the OCD-driven modeller.
Like you, I was also able to but a small reel of fibre-optic through Ebay. Given the presence of fibre in communications these days (and soon to be in my Broadband), it's fairly readily available in various diameters.
Tamiya does provide a smidgin with their tanks; but, because it's transparent, it's very easy to lose... Hence, the reel.
