Looking more like a tank. That's the colour of the Ammo red oxide. Looks weird but I think it will look good when showing through chips.

heh it actually was a 10 second job, wanted to see how they contrasted on a spare turret before I ended up doing it on the real one. Also wanted to know what the resedagrun looked like because I was dubious over using it instead of olivegrun. The end paint job will be a later style factory ambush.

It was literally a yellow coat, random tape placement then green then random take then red. It's only on that side not the whole turret as I just wanted to see how the colours looked. The turret to be used is the one in primer.

A slightly better look at the Ammo by Mig Jimenez red oxide primer colour. It's a richer colour than the Tamiya red oxide

So here's the Ammo brand Dunkelgelb Aus '44 DG1 on a few parts. Used the Ammo scratching fluid to get the chipping and the pin wash is AK wash for Dark Yellow.

So the first thing is the Ammo scratching fluid is really quite concentrated, it seems to have more of the agent in it than the AK version so the paint came off sometimes too easily so it only really needs a light spray. The fluid for large chips would probably be overkill for a 1:16 and these are designed for 1:35. The Ammo paint has the same problem as Tamiya though, the sprocket on the far right and wheel on the far left I didn't put a satin coat on prior to washing and the enamel wash has seeped into the paint and was impossible to remove in places where I didn't want it. There is a big blob on one of the arms which I can't now remove. Not a big deal as a later filter will blend it.

Fairly pleased with the outcome of trying something completely new. Will finish them of at a later date when the rest of the tank is painted.

They are pretty good. Have a read on page 2, pretty much went over the pro's and con's of the boxes.

All the wheels are now scratched and washed. Need to tidy a few bits of wash. Also added the HL final drive covers that Forgebear sent me. Need to trim off quite allot from the part that goes into the sprocket but they look good with the sprocket on and just needed 1 hole drilled for the bolt onto the hull.

So the Mig scratch effect fluid, even watered down, with one coat (it suggests more on the bottle) is just so highly concentrated that it's hard to control the scratches even with the very slightest of movement with a soft brush. I'm going for a fairly battered looking 4 month old KT anyway but a couple of the wheels I will cover a few of the larger chips. The good thing though is the Ammo paint, once dry goes back to being a flat finish. The Plastikote primer also is really nice and has held the Ammo primer on well, in fact it's a pain to get off!

Another thing to note about these Ammo paints is they shoot straight from the bottle pretty well and it appears to have a retarder in it because even shooting from 5 inches away the paint is still quite wet.

Just waiting some Aber late clamps and some C Hook holders to turn up now so I can finish off the hull.
