Wpl motor unit
Afternoon all,
I'm hoping to pick the brains of the truck builders here, I bought a wpl metal motor transmission unit to use in a little project that I'm building, I've added some pics of the unit I bought below which was advertised for a crawler, its 6v 280rpm but it's a tad slow for what I need, do any of you know where I can find a suitable motor that will fit onto this unit to give it a bit more oomph, I'm not looking for super speed just a bit more than this one gives, a supplier or link to a suitable motor from the UK if possible would be great as I don't really want to wait week's for delivery from China
Cheers, Lee.

Re: Wpl motor unit
Hi Increase voltage will make it faster its running at 46,6 rpm/volt increase volts to 7,4 344 rpm
It will run on 12 volts which would be 560 rpm.
regards pete

Hi Pete,
I'm using a 2s lipo and a 30 amp Chinese esc, how would I go about increasing the voltage
Cheers, Lee.

If you sang to increase the voltage, you nerf a Lipo 3S

I can get the same type unit as the one I already have but it is 12v, would that increase the speed as the one I am using at the moment is only 6v
Cheers, Lee.

Re: Wpl motor unit
I already linked you what you need for less than one pound, Sir.
If time matters find one similar in the UK, there are heaps of them.
That one es regulable, so beware of the output voltage before connecting it.
Also the higher the voltage the faster the motor will wear.... But you can find heaps of those motors for next to nothing.

Thank you Rad, if getting the 12v unit would work I don't mind buying that and it's UK based, electronics isn't my strongest subject
Cheers, Lee.

Mine neither! LOLModel Builder 4 wrote:electronics isn't my strongest subject
.
The small device I linked you is known as a step up voltage regulator. In one side you solder the wires that go to from the battery (well, with a connector between of course) and at the other side you solder the voltage that goes to your ESC.
The one I linked you has a small wheel so you can adjust the voltage output up to 28 volts which is barbaric for our toys.
With a polimeter (5 bucks delivered) you can see the voltage and adjust it to your taste.
You can also get this one

And bridge the 12v part and done.

Re: Wpl motor unit
Hi Lee. If you get the 12 volt and it has the same rpm as the 6 volt, the 6 volt will turn faster than the 12 volt on the same 7.4 battery. As in, the 6 volt motor will turn 344 rpm on 7.4 volts like Pete says, and the 12 volt will only turn 172.7 rpm on 7.4 volts. You need to keep an eye on the motor rpm, and bare this in mind.Model Builder 4 wrote:I can get the same type unit as the one I already have but it is 12v, would that increase the speed as the one I am using at the moment is only 6v
