1/16 URAL AND TRAILER.

Heng Long/WPL are now manufacturing 1/16 scale RC trucks, so it seemed sensible to create a forum area dedicated to the amazing things that members are doing with them. Post your builds, mods, and tips here.

1/16 URAL AND TRAILER.

Post by eddiesolo »

This is my URAL, all the electrics inside the command unit-which is very handy. Lighting unit in there as well as the battery.

I added a couple of figures for the cab, rear lights added and decals also, a all metal towing eye was added. I also meshed the grill, inside and added a cooling fan. The rear leaf-spring suspension on the rear was replaced with small shocks.

I also made a trailer from WPL parts after I knocked the US truck, that was in bits, on the floor and stood on it :'( So, the back was okay as was the rails so cut down the rails, angled them added a small metal spring clip. Added the rear lights and took the wiring to a car waterproof connector placed in the middle of the a-frame, then a simple JST connector, with enough length so that it will move freely when turning.

Inside the truck back I took a lead from the lighting unit to a female JST connector that runs underneath, all works well. I originally used magleads to connect the trailer to the truck, thinking here was that if it did get snagged it would just pull away without damaging the wiring-it worked in principle but, the cables detached too easily on a turn-killing the trailer lights.

Anyway, I have waffled enough.

Cool looking truck and trailer Si
I particularly like that the trailer doesn't have a matching paint scheme to the truck

Thanks mate, appreciate it. The trailer was done in a pine green or forest green...or some kind of green, same colour I did the Gaz in, the trailer was supposed to go with that but, electrical components underneath the Gaz meant a good strong enough towing eye could not be fitted. Plus, I figure that a trailer can go with anything so will probably be a slightly different colour to the towing vehicle...well, that's my excuse :haha:

My truck still in the box complete with dust.
Thank you, got the truck from a member on a different forum and then reworked and added to it. I know what you mean about gathering dust...I have some kits that are the same :D
