I don't know how I missed this, Alwyn, but you're doing a great job. I have all the STL files to 3D print a diamond T Wrecker I just haven't had the time yet.

Just as well you haven't found the time to print it - I still haven't found time to finish doing the CAD and fix all of the assembly issues I found with the prototype!

I'm really glad you said that, Martin, because I'm almost finished printing out the ambulance and I was going to do the wrecker next, but now I'll hold off until you tell me it's ready.

Just a word of warning about the JJRC truck transmission, the advertising shows a nice picture of a metal differential but the cogs in this thing are all nylon, and there are no bearings, in fact the support of the pinion wheel is appallingly weak. I need to measure up and see if I can find some bearings to fit. If anyone has a website id for small bearings then please post it. The bearings I'm looking for are 5mm external diameter, 3.2mm internal diameter, 3mm height.

Whats really needed for these axles is a metal upgrade as is available for the wpl axles, maybe someone will go for it in China.

Best I could find with my usual dealers was this with your length and outside diameter. If you are able to drill these out to 3.2 ID that would be fantastic.

Thanks Mick, I managed to find these

a 3x6x2.5 bearing, I can bore out the plastic case to 6mm and the shaft is knurled so I can take it down to 3mm with a file so it will fit. It's basically the input shaft to the diff which on the mid axle is going to take quite a bit of stress, so I need something that will help the diff take the strain. I realise these trucks are sold as toys for kids but it's very naughty of them to show a pic of a metal diff and then put in a plastic/nylon one. At least it has a differential rather than the fixed axle WPL stuff.

I think eventually I might have to fork out for proper metal axles with diff, but I'm trying to do this build on a low budget and I've already blown that to the tune of about £60.

Well, that's much better then

At that price I'd order a spare set. The roller bearings with 3.2 hole I found were nearly 8mm OD and a quarter inch long, especially hard to find without a flange.

No, sorry, they were a quarter inch diameter.
