HL Truck Mods

Heng Long/WPL are now manufacturing 1/16 scale RC trucks, so it seemed sensible to create a forum area dedicated to the amazing things that members are doing with them. Post your builds, mods, and tips here.

"How slow you want?
My dual 180s are great, although a little noisy"[/quote]

Good afternoon,
It's a drag racer now with the stock motor. I would like to be able to see details when it goes by *chuckles* and maybe have it pull an arty piece or a small trailer.
regards,
Painless

Anyone found an easy solution off the shelf

Conclusion on scale of the Willys Jeep. 1/12 width and 1/11 length! Doh!
We shall call it something like a 1/11.5 ish scale jeep haha. All out of scale but made to 'Look' correct.

My MAN 8x8 is the same, it something like 1/17 ish scale.

My Toyota Hilux something like 1/14

I’ve been busy with the Deuce this week, the cab has been primed red then grey, so I can see when I should stop sanding lol.

3 cans of olive drab have been ordered.

I’ve been scaling up Tiger6’s Deuce 3D model (cheers Martin), the load bed base is one piece at 1/16, but at 1/6 it’s circa 600mm x 400mm x 25mm thick, it would take forever to print & would use a bloody scary amount of filament.
I printed the frame for under the load bed & CA’d it to a sheet of 3mm plasticard.
Image
I printed some 3mm high spacers to go between the base & the sides, when all stuck together it’s a very rigid structure, this also leaves a nice area between the sides for a sheet of 6mm hardwood plywood, I’ll cut that tomorrow hopefully.
I’ve also managed to make the tailgate work

Well, that’s it for this week, I’m printing wheels at the moment.
This is where I’m up to...

Blimey - it's huge!

What axles are you going to be using - Not even sure that a 1/8th Axial Wraith rock crawler would be wide enough?

Some updates, the wife has been busy working seat covers.
Image

I also been designing new little parts for these JJRC Jeeps
Fender mounted siren

Today we have just finished working on the side fender MG Mount for a 30 cal or BAR
Then we are going to do an M48 dash mounted MG mount for the same weapons, plus we have received drawings of the M31c mount which is used in the centre of the Willys Jeep to mount a 50 or 30 cal in the back. So more parts on their way.

What is perfectly obvious is the JJRC Jeep scale is really awkward, so although we can scale the parts nicely, its difficult to know what to scale it to, so adjusted by eye to make them look right.
The reason i am putting the time in here is because of our trip to Normandy and i was overwhelmed with the variety of arts i saw fitted to these awesome machines.
