1944 WWII Soviet Dual Axle Transport Truck

Heng Long/WPL are now manufacturing 1/16 scale RC trucks, so it seemed sensible to create a forum area dedicated to the amazing things that members are doing with them. Post your builds, mods, and tips here.

The Stuart is still in a holding pattern and the RTR Taigen\Torro IS-2 Detail Build is complete so it is time to move on with works in progress. This truck deserves some love and as parts have reached a tipping point, I will begin again with it. I did some research as to what it was really modeled after. Make\Marques like Zis this and Gaz that came up but while those trucks did certainly exist ( even a Chinese 3rd Generation removed version ) an American truck was the genesis for this lovely. The 40's version of the International Harvester KR-11 was a lend lease truck sent to the Sovs during WWII. They liked it well enough that it became the basis for the ZIS-150 afterwards. Here are some links to pages concerning the vehicle:
https://www.o5m6.de/redarmy/ihc_kr11.php and https://www.google.com/search?q=Interna ... ster+KR-11
Tonight, I took the truck apart and took some photos of the pieces. I have rounded up some detail bits from the DioramaFreak store on Ebay and electrics from the usual Chinese Suspect sites. A better 180 motor is on the way to slow the vehicle down. A light set will give me rear tail lights and headlights. I have a good, metal gear servo for the Steering and am looking for a free day to go to a local Hobby Shop to get a three channel controller and receiver with a matching ESC. I considered turning the truck into a tanker but decided against it. I have a nice 1/16 French light artillery piece kit that will look great under tow once assembled. I also like the idea of ammo stowage boxes, crates and gear in a rustic wooden flat bed with slat walls.

Herman!
Greetings! Yes, there are some beautiful Deuce and a 1/2 trucks out here with 3D printed bodies on WPL chassis. I wanted to do something similar but use the old Lend Lease IH KR-11 that the Q60 truck was based on. A heavy Soviet truck pulling a light artillery piece will be a nice add on to the scenery in a future tank village video.
regards,
Painless

Hi painless,
The truck looks like its coming along a treat bud, these are a lot of fun and sometimes head scratching builds to work on :D but its always good to have a bit of back up and a supply chain for our tanks

Cheers, Lee.

Good Morning, Will,
I didn't do much over the weekend. Picked up parts, looked at them and almost talked myself into Primer. I have some cutting and drilling to do first before starting paint so I do not want to get ahead of myself. I'm waiting on that new motor in the mail and need to get to the local ( local = 115 miles away ) Hobby store to get a new Receiver, TX and ESC for it. I already have a nice servo for the steering, just need to figure out a mount. I found some really neat cabin door panels and a new grill on CULTS but I need to find someone to print them out once I buy the file. Lots to do even on a Truck Build. ;o)
regards,
Painless

Good Morning,
I finally broke down and bought the last pieces for this build ( that I was _sure_ that I already had in spares ;o) and figured that I should post some of the last progress pics over the last couple of months. Summer is ending up here in the mountains so expect more work ( fun ) out of yours truly. Pics: ( Click to enlarge )
