3D printed parts

Heng Long/WPL are now manufacturing 1/16 scale RC trucks, so it seemed sensible to create a forum area dedicated to the amazing things that members are doing with them. Post your builds, mods, and tips here.

3D printed parts

Post by wibblywobbly »

There is a section on Thingiverse for WPL truck parts:

https://www.thingiverse.com/groups/wpl-rcs/things

My friend in the trade tells me that he has seen the prototypes for metal driveshafts, gears etc, so hopefully the weak points on these trucks will be ironed out at some point. :S

Good morning, W.W.
Thank you for the heads up! I have one of those GAZ trucks collecting parts for a build. A metal drivetrain and servo would do it good.
regards,
Painless

Hi Painless,
I bought metal front and rear axles and matching metal prop shafts (2 complete Sets) they are a delight of miniature engineering although both front axles needed the steering to be adjusted to get it aligned correctly, but it is a five minute job with a Phillips screwdriver.
The worst part was the interminable wait for them to arrive.
Both Ali express and Banggood are slow.
Tip-do use threadlock on the grub screws that retain the propshafts.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Jarndice!
That is certainly a good enough of an endorsement for me. Once I see how well the Gaz builds up, I can think about one of the American dual rear axle types.. The thing for that one will be rounding up the dual hubs for the rear and all of the military style tires.
regards and best wishes,
Painless
