Tamiya high intensity flash unit with OP board

Post by Sub »

Hi Chaps.
Has anyone wired the Tamiya high intensity flash unit into the OP board ?.
I have checked the wiki and it only mentions the Asiatam / Taigen flash unit.
Any info greatly appreciated.

None of the after market boards seem to be able to run the tamiya flash, I think the main gubbins are in the mfu, unlike the taigen

Why not just use a bright led light and wire directly into the open Panzer board like I did?

Then no special bits needed.

There's a spot for the AUX light and when you go into the open configuration program you can set the led to work with the main gun recoil.

The Tamiya flash uses a special high voltage circuit that is built into the Tamiya MFU as Tom says. It can not be activated by any other board, including the TCB.

The Asiatam/Taigen flash is inexpensive and basically plug-and-play, so use that instead. Or as Carl says, you can use an LED.

Hi chaps.
Many thx for the quick replies.
I was aware of the LED route but i have one of the old original stand alone clear box Tamiya flash units that is in perfect working order and wondered if it could be used with the TCB. After some thinking I have managed to install this unit in the turret of my King Tiger and by fitting a small micro switch onto the recoil servo arm from the TCB it now flashes the strobe when the barrel recoils so all is well.
Many thx.
