1/6 3d printed tank tracks
1/6 3d printed tank tracks
Im experimenting with trying to print 1/6 tank tracks for a sherman tank. What would be the strongest material to use for printing these?

Probably ABS but my friend is usining PETG tracks in his 1/10 T-34 with no issue after few years of use.

Delrin - acetal/POM will offer the ultimate strength.
Spyker offers injected T48 track if you're looking for something already made.

I've printed a set of WE210 links for an Armortek tank from ABS but I think ASA is now the recommended filament over ABS for strength and resistance to moisture/heat/wear.
I've not run them yet, so don't know how they'll handle the weight of the Armortek model.
Adrian.

Re: 1/6 3d printed tank tracks
I am using ASA for all 3D printed tracks.I am very satisfied with ASA.
Anyway, direction of the track when printing (layers/planes orientation) is as important as material.
Saracen - ASA is pretty much the same like ABS in almost every aspect.Only UV resistance of ASA is much better.
Nothing more. All other properties are pretty much the same.ASA is preferred, because there is less shrinking.
Its much more user-friendly.You can print most of the stuff even without a box/heated chamber.
Delrin/Acetal/POM is the ultimate material for this, but very hard to print, glue and paint.
Printing with POM is one of the most difficult print jobs.
Rare spool. Its hard to find some usable POM.This (one on the picture) is one of the last.
It was discontinued.Not produced anymore.
I know there was one producer in French, but there are few of them.
...use ASA.Its optimal.
