My axles have arrived from China, they’re much heavier than I expected. What I noticed before ordering them is that they use the same central section for both front & rear axles, the fronts are narrower to allow for the steering & the rears have extensions to increase the width.
As normal there wasn’t a width dimension on the listing but I took a punt.
Hex face to hex face the rear axle is actually 195mm wide, remove the extensions & it’s 149 wide. That’s just about the perfect size for the RaumerImage
I couldn’t help myself, I had to have a look inside one. Surprisingly all the innards are metal!!! The bearings are only copper but they will do for my needsImageImageImageImage

There isn’t much grease inside, I’ll sort that before I put it back together.
Now where’s that Dremel...
Cheers

That thing is mad cool. What a giant bugger!

As for the axles i have to wait, but i have bought the metal versions. I planned on converting them width wise anyway to suit a Truck conversion, so thanks for the pictures. It almost confirms that what i want to do will actually be quite easy. Sorted :)

Good luck with the Raumer

Hi Will, I had a bit of a disaster when I glued it together, I got a “bit” of a twist in it.
I’ve just got some debonder, next time I get a break between projects I’ll have another go at it.
Cheers

Hi Wayne you may be able to use these to steer your beast https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Huina-Profes ... 1438.l2649

sorry no choice you cant pick and choose they come in the three you see ( they are to modifie a digger) but they may work. A lot cheaper than hydraulics.

Hi Pete, how weird is that, I was looking at that listing yesterday & scratching my head wondering if they’d do the job on the Raumer S, there are no sizes in the listing, thanks for the pointer

Hi Wayne think they are over 100mm one is longer than the other two .if you used two of them you would need to reverse one of the servos , they make reverse cables so not a big problem
