'Black box' HL StuG III Ausf. G

Post by Lert »

This is a tale of a box and four kitties:

Inside the box was another box:

Heng Long's new black box.

Everything laid out:

And all the parts fitted:

The StuG is a very compact machine:

I'm quite pleased with it. I would've liked the new sound system, but that's an upgrade for later.

Now the whole painting / weathering routine begins ...

Looks good. I thought the black box signified tanks with the new sound system, but obviously not. The Tx looks the same as my T90 which has the new switchable sounds.

Stugs RULE!!! @) @) @)

Here's mine, with new paint, an IBU2, a viper for volume control, running on a simple T6 radio. I did a lot of work to this one, adding metal tools, air intake screens, metal spare track links, etc, etc. I started with the Imex/Taigen metal edition and went from there.

Good Afternoon,
I did not choose the 'StuG' Life, it chose me. 8) Enjoy that StuG! It looks like you have a great base to build the StuG of your dreams.

StuG Ausf B comprised of a Profileline Resin kit combined with a Pz III lower and a TauchPanzer Engine Deck. Too many metal add-ons to easily count.

And just for information for new hobbyists and for people who might be interested to know:

The internals:

Image

There is precious little empty space inside, the StuG is a very, very compact design. They use a different barrel elevation unit than the standard one fitted to all / most other HL tanks even, and a smaller speaker just to make sure it fits.

Another result of this thing being so compact:

A different type of battery. Up top the 9.6v, 1000mAH battery and charger for the StuG, below the 7.2v, 2000mAH battery and charger for my Leopard 2A6 (which is the same type as came with my JagdPanther and Pz IV F2).

Lert,
You know how it is, a little bit of that, a few of those, major sanity issues, the usual. The finished pieces are always worth it. ;o)

Always loved the Stug since I clapped eyes on it when I was a kid.
It's considerably smaller than the heavies in the photos.

Do all Stug IIIs come with a 9.6v battery?
