as long as these boards ( you have ? ) are 'P'

and have the programer , you can program new sounds

If you are looking at new board ( tk40) the answer is yes

Hi,

Thanks - its a TK40 but is being sent back to Clark for repair...

Is it possible to ask your views on the standard TK40 and the HL dual current gearboxes or does that have to be done somewhere else?

I don't want to be told off :)

Steve

I'm sure Clark can load up the sounds for you if it's in for a repair , let him now, and I can send it to him

if you mean 'pdsgb' type by HL dual current gearbox I would say ' bobob' on 2s lipo max it might be ok if you dont run it in long wet grass, but I'd recomend the tk80 if going for such gearbox uppgrade

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

'bobob'? not sure what that means :) I run 7.2v nimh in all my tanks.

Yes I do mean the PDSG's. The DKLM website says they've been tested with Clark boards. (The HL versions look like clones of the DKLM ones?)

The fitting instructions say to use an in-line fuse of 15-20A - which is fine but they also say to switch the momentum option on on the board. I know what this does for the tank, but what would it be doing for the board in connection with the gears? Is it just a 'softer' start up in terms of the current draw?

The TK80 would mean a different transmitter for me (I only have the flysky 6 channel). I assume a TK 80 would not work with my current 6 channel transmitter?

thanks

Bob bob means so'so'. Boil it down, I would not use a tk40+pdsgb .I've done it on a few indoor fairs( smooth floor) but not if 'pushing' it , outdoor driving like

Not saying your nimh aint up for the task, but a heavy tank+PDSGB is thirsty

the HL are copys as fare as I know . seen photos of the final gear strip to, not saying they are trash, but I'll stick to the dklm-pdsgb version anyday over the HL one

Momentum gives ,as you say, 'softer' start / stop ( mimic heavy tank)

for the Sbus version you would need the flysky I6S as the tk80 comes in 8ch/sbus10ch

Thanks for all the useful info - really appreciated.

I've been chatting to Clark and think i'll part exchange the TK40 for an 80 and get an additional set of radio gear.

Can I take you up on the offer of the Challenger 1 sound files so Clark can include as part of the upgrade?

Good plan, I tried my pdsgb on a tk40 and on grass and 2s it still shut down very quickly due to over heating
