July TOTM submission, now voting thread.

Post by Son of a gun-ner »

Hello fellow TOTM fans.
Gosh, that time already, really comes around quickly and catches me unaware. Just like that lamp post that leapt out behind me when I was reversing the other day.
My apologies for being a day late, had a bit of a family distraction.

You still have the usual seven days to get those glorious Radio Controlled submissions submitted.
Anyone can enter, apart from last month's winner.
Please submit up to eight visual representations of the one model you'd like us to admire. The eight visual representations can be up to eight photos, or up to eight videos, or a combination of both up to a total of eight.

Thank you.
You can find the chat thread here.

NUMBER 1

Hi,

This is a Metal Origin Sd.Kfz. 234/2 Puma built last month.

The model has the following features;
- Clark TK22 control board
- Metal origin Cardan half shafts
- Heng long turret rotation unit and Mato 360 rotation wheel
- Modified MK Modellbau Puma metal gun barrel
- Custom servo gun elevation and recoil, with flash and sound
- Coax machine gun flash and sound
- Headlights with LEDs
- Steering with 35kg servo
- Painted with Mig Ammo Dunkelgelb RAL7028 and Olivgrun opt2 RAL6003
- Applied with black and dark steel pigments

It was a fast and pleasant build, no major issues encountered. I've found the model to be well designed and it operates well after a break-in period and some tweaking of the drive cups with the optional cardan drive half shafts. I had no issues with the gearbox. The build can be seen at viewtopic.php?f=23&t=31750&start=20

Another Panzer 1 for your consideration, this time a PzKpfw 1A in DAK colors. A Takom 1:16 plastic display model converted to radio control. Main board & speaker taken from a Heng Long 1:30 r/c Sherman tank, transmission from an Arduino robot tank. Headlight works, turret rotates, machine guns flash. MG barrels incorporate a brass tube, a lucite light pipe, and LED's from the Sherman. The crew and engine hatches are hinged with copper wire.
