February Truck Of The Month submission now voting thread.

Post by Son of a gun-ner »

Yes, you read that correctly, February is just for trucks.

All we want to see this month is Trucks.
It doesn't matter what they started life as, a cheap Heng Long truck, to an expensive kit, they could have started out as a pile of plasticard or scrap from your recycle bin, it matters not. What matters is that they look like a MILITARY TRUCK of some kind, and they are Radio Controlled.
A truck that started life as a truck and was turned into something non truck like is not a truck anymore.
Sorry, only wheeled vehicles, no tracked or half tracked allowed.

Usual TOTM rules apply, which means last month's winners are sadly excluded. And just like past winning Tiger1's in the Tiger1 Of The Month, past winning Trucks will be excluded from this February's Truck Of The Month.

We look forward to seeing what you submit.

IMPORTANT. the submission time will be open for the usual seven days. But as there is a limit of only 12 Poll slots, the submission time will close early if that limit is reached before the seven days has expired.

Please use the chat thread to post anything related to this month's competition and model entries. Link below.

NUMBER 1

Ah well here goes nothing..

Here is my Scratch built US Marine Corps Cougar 6x6 MRAP
( Mine resistant Ambush Protection ) vehicle.
The vehicle serial number 635158 is an actual MRAP used in Iraq i believe.

It is built by me from 2mm black Styrene sheet, brass rod and various metals.
Old school built using a ruler and scalpal no 3d printing or anything like that.
The chassis is a highly modified WPL B16 chassis,
Now has all metal axles, driveshafts, 2 speed selectable gearbox, upgraded 380 motor with metal gears, all axles, drive hubs have ball bearing races added and the axle halfshafts are also metal.
Fully 6x6 drive.
The turret is 360 Degrees of rotation from a modified servo with gear using a modified Heng long turret ring.
It has a proportional GWS diesel engine start and run sound.
A home made .50 Cal machine gun battle engagement.
Lights front and rear and roof spot light.
All painting by myself using Tamiya Acrylic paint and 3 coats af self mixed satin / Matt varmish from Humbrol, all airbrushed.
The decals are from 2mm individual letters / numbers picked and cleaned up from a sheet by tweezers and magnifying lamp.
7 channel Specktrum 2.4 radio with a 2 cell 7.4v lipo for all functions.
The .50 cal gunner is a modified Tamiya Japanese defence force standing solder, cut in half and both arms removed cut up and re glued in place.
Hope you find it worthy.

Here is a short youtube video of the functions.

Well gents in this rare truck of the month I feel I have something to show but not a realistic contender
What we have due to lack of available parts is a possible rather than a known historically accurate.

What we have here is you standard jjrc 6x6 truck made a little better.
This truck fairly close to an international harvester from the early 40s has been painted up as a Russian lend lease truck
It has had some door handles fitted 3D printed wheels to better match the trucks it’s based on and a much improved colour.
In the photos you will notice some of the stencils provided by our very own rad haven’t gone to plan I don’t think I stuck them down firm enough so paint got under them but will be easy to tidy up. You will also notice a fogged up windscreen no mirror glass as not yet found any and no load.
The idea here is it’s parked up on a dockside given the Russian markings but not yet been put to work. Now the photos can say the rest

Good Morning Ladys and Gentleman,
I'm not entirely innocent of the Truck of the Month competition ... I suggested this once for fun.
That is why I am obliged to take part.
I thought for a long time which truck I would present, there were three to choose from:
- Sd.Kfz. 234/2 Puma 8-Wheel
- Sd.Kfz. 231 6-wheel
- Kraz-255
I think a "real" truck is right here, that's why I'm going into the competition with the Kraz-255.

It's built in 1/16 scale and a real monster.
I used a ScaleDrive chassis with a 2-speed manual shift gearbox, complete lighting and a Benedini mini sound module.
The cab, the 3-Piece Bedlock rims etc. are 3D printed.

Hi,
Here is a RC 1/10 WW2 British Desert SAS Jeep.

I was always impressed by the SAS "Soldier of fortune" look and feel, open Jeep, loaded with machine guns and fuel. Who would not want to take an afternoon ride with these guys.

This is a highly modified 1/10 scale Q65 truck. First, I made it a real crawler by replacing the very small motor and gearbox with a WPL gearbox with 370 size motor. Then i reworked the axels and suspension to be at the proper spacing and height. Jerrycans for the SAS transformation come from Ebay Germany Dioramaparts and Shapeways provided the twin K machine guns. As it was really weird to see an open Jeep driving itself, two figures were created from 1/10 resin SAS figure busts available on eBay, which were mounted on a modified 1/10 action figure body and integrated on a best effort basis. The .50 cal machine gun came with the resin SAS gunner bust figure. One main issue with the Q65 is the scale and dimensions, a mixture of 1/9 to 1/12 scale depending on the section being measured. The build can be seen at viewtopic.php?f=23&t=30146.

Hope this one fits in the rules Mick.

Sterling t26 tractor unit with m15a trailer.

Theyre both entirely scratch built the chassis is aluminium alloy with the cab detail being styrene. Running gear uses custom transfer boxes using mechano gears with tamiya truck axles and Lego technic wheels.

Currently running in an 8x6 configuration and features the unique turntable steering from the original.

The 5th wheel operates as it should and it has powered ramps and legs for the trailer.

Built and painted by Foden

Owned, photographed and operated by me.ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Good Evening,
I hesitated on putting in an Entry with all of the excellent Wheeled Stock on Display. I am kinda proud of this rebuild tho' and also the resin Field Piece it tows. Here is my 44' Lend Lease International Harvester KR-11 done up in Soviet livery and towing a 10.5 cm Field Piece. This truck was rebuilt with a bigger motor and new electronics and lighting. 3D printed Hubs and Tires from Gary were used for the WWII look. A wooden bed and tailgate were built up and lots of metal and cargo were added ( along with more 3D printed bits from Gary to hide the lighting system power plant ) The repaint was done by me and the markings were a combo of decals and stencils from the redoubtable Rad. I am especially proud of the doors and cab interior as they required a complete redo to ditch the toy look.

Hi Guys
I have never entered one of these TOTM, but this defo looks like one i can enter, although i cannot for a second say this truck is yet complete. In my eyes nothing is ever finished as there is always something to add

It is a Gaz AAA 6x4 truck, i have 3d printed the cab and rear deck area.
The rear deck is wood lined and the fold down rear and sides can hinge all the way down or lock up.
For this truck i decided to build it up as a AA truck so it has a 60cm Flakscheinwerfer mounted in the back with an ammo storage box next to it. In tow and hitched up is a SD.Anh.51 trailer and 2cm Early model Flak 30.
I also have another Gaz MM 4x2 which has a rear mounted 8kW generator which powers the searchlight, but in the rules i have not pictured these together.
Most of the truck is designed and 3d printed and the ammo box doubles as lipo box, the electronics hide inside the cab.
There is a 370 motor powering a 2speed box. The front axle is all custom with a floating front transverse leaf

In the summer i took this truck for a 3mile drive and it ran on a single 2slipo for approx 2hours whilst it drove along beside me over rough terrain. I have to say i was uber impressed and this one is definitely a keeper :)

Here is my 1/16 Dukw, although not 100% finished I thought I'd give the comp a whirl. It has a 3d printed hull and with nearly all of the other parts being made by myself to complete it, built, painted and photos by me
