Re: M41 Gorilla
Took a while to figure out how to do it, but managed a pair of passable reciprocators. They don't function, the hinges and pivots would have been too small and weak to last very long.

Re: M41 Gorilla
Solved the problem of how to latch the spade and rear door, printed small retainers that will hold neodyne magnets edge on for the spade, and used more powerful ones to grip through the rear of the hull for the door. Works like a charm.
Spotted an urban fox sunbathing in the garden as well, he couldn't have cared less whether I was there or not, lol. The cubs sometimes play 50mph hide and seek on my rear decking at 4am, which is like rolling thunder that echoes through the whole house.

Ingenious work with the spare locking mechanism. I too have recently discovered a den in my garden with a full crew of the furry fox friends keep up the great work

Fitted a servo recoil, the arm needs moving around, but the direction is ok and above all it works freely. This was my third attempt at finding a location that would function properly, I'll box the servo in when I get to the final stages.

Re: M41 Gorilla
After the fifth attempt I now have servo traverse as compact as I can make it, covered by a new ammo rack that is closer to the correct shape. I am going with a simple friction elevation as I never use it, and it saves me having to shoehorn yet another servo in there.
It is too hot to be doing this sort of thing....

Re: M41 Gorilla
Thank you kind sir, I have to admit that there have been numerous parts where I have thought at first 'that will do', or 'that is close enough', but then decided that no, I should just redesign and reprint, and keep doing it until it is as good as I can get it. Lots of wasted filament, but it seems to be paying off, and of course, each time I do it, I learm something new.
It's pretty much all small detailed parts from now on, but I think I am on the home run.

Good decision on an awesome piece. Do you plan to do those as kits in the future?

Re: M41 Gorilla
Much as would like to be able to offer a kit, there around 100 parts, and the print time do to all of them in a run would take days and days of non-stop printing. Once it is complete I might be able to tidy up the files and sell both the Openscad code and the STL files, so that anyone can find local sources to print it all.

Re: M41 Gorilla
Managed to get some paint on this little beast, so it's looking a bit more like it is supposed to. Still more to do...this is a long haul. I should have sanded the upper hull before I glued the extras on, so I may have to get some resin that I can brush on to get it smooth.
