This is the way that I did the blade motor. Used an HL elevation unit, turned it upside down. It works, nice slow speed and it will lift a fair weight too. Needs a brass or alloy lifting arm, but hey its operational.

Re: Chieftain ARRV mk 7
Thanks chaps. One thing I did when I fitted the road wheels was check all of the suspension springs. The previous owner had obviously taken it all apart himself and then just replaced the springs anywhere. Two of them were a lot softer than the others so I put them at the front.
It doesn't show up in the video, but when a load is added to the bucket the front drops down under the weight. It looks quite funky.

Re: Chieftain ARRV mk 7
Test run with newly created sound files, it wasn't running quite right as one of the tracks pins hadn't been put in properly, and the upper hull was just resting there, but you get the general idea...

Re: Chieftain ARRV mk 7
Pretty much all sorted now. You Tube has managed to distort the sound horrendously, sorry about that, it is much smoother and far easier on the ear in reality.
IBU2 sound file edited and custom sounds to get gear changes and revving etc. Engine idle sorted, hydraulic lift with start and stop sounds.
No longer detracks no matter what I do with it.
Bucket now works perfectly when lifting objects or being used as a dozer blade.
Low ratio gearboxes spin the tracks, but apart from adding more weight there isn't a lot more that I can do.
Needs filler, primer and paint, and it should be good to go.
I'll then fit a battle system and it will be programmed as a repair vehicle.
Re-Uploaded the video in a different format to improve the sound quality...

Re: Chieftain ARRV mk 7
Managed to get some paint on the upper hull. First time that I have tried using Vallejo primer and airbrushing it on. It took ages as it is designed to go on very thinly to preserve detail on small scale models. Top base coat is US Dark Green. I will use a rattle can for the lower hull primer, I can do the whole thing in a few minutes.
It's only at this stage of a model build that the faults start showing up, and I am quite pleased with it all. No nasty surprises leaping out at me.
