CVR(T) Scorpion tank

Post by Dragon245 »

As an ex CVR man I had to get moos' kit of the Scorpion, Finally got a chance to get in the box and get started. Anyone interested in purchasing the kit his site is http://spykerworkshop.webs.com/scorpion-tank there are copies of the instructions as well, just so you can see what your getting. First impressions are very good, parts are sharp with very little cleaning req, as this is a 3d print, there are lines but these are very fine and easily sanded. Also I was pleased with the amount of bearings supplied, all the running gear are supported on them. :D
So to the lower hull and suspension, bushings support all axles and are a snug fit, Suspension is suppliecd via piano wre, snapped a couple trying to get right, but Ryan has supplied plenty, Also like to mention spares, so far Ive got 4 spare axle arms ,both types and lots of wire, I think this is common for all the running gear so another plus. also made the upper hull frame and gear box enough talk -pictures

Looks awesome, massive fan of the Scorpion, built the tiny Airfix kit in my youth, fantastic to finally see it in 1/16.

Following along

Scorpion looks great. I also built one of the 72nd scale way back when Jesus played full back for Gallalea !!
Years later in an area of New Zealand known as The Desert Road, I had one overtake me on the dirt as I was pulling up out of a slow corner!
Not the thing you expect to happen getting carved up by a tank !!

Yeah Herman, those Scorpions didn't half shift, at the time, one of the fastest tracked vehicles in the world, on or off road !!!

Loving this build so far.

Lovely drive, remember on the big exercises in Germany chasing much larger tanks in villages. Happy days, Used to say I had the biggest jaguar available :D :D
