IBU3 CPU light flashes/ sound files will not load

Post by Dackel »

Ok, I am at my wits end trying to get this board set up. A few week ago, I was setting up a new board, susessfully got the radio calibrated, and downloaded engine sound files (twin Maybach) from the IBU site. I performed a sound test, all was good, and did a test of the drive motors all was good, quit for the day and that was it.
So, a couple of days ago, I went back to test everything, and the green CPU light continually blinks, and there is a clicking sound coming thru the speaker at about a one- two second interval. This happens even when there is no sound volume control in the volume control socket. When I try to down load sound files, the clicking stops, but resumes when the file completes, and it refuses to play back.
I have deleted and reinstalled the drivers and configurations to no avail. Am I missing something, or is the board trashed? Thanks!

Go back to basics.

Check the battery is fully charged.
Make sure no short circuits in the wiring.
Does the receiver power on okay.
If possible try powering on the ibu3 in another Tank to verify if wiring, connections, switches etc are okay.

I stumbled upon my radio being set on another model and had a similar thing happen. MAybe check the RX and make sure it is lit and the TX is set correctly.

I think I'll just write this one off to lesson learned. Only have to touch a hot stove once!

It's going back to the manufacturer for replacement under warranty. It is a faulty board. Everything else works and is programmed into the board and working except sound. I bought the board new from a seller in California- I seem to remember his first name was Jerry- but he is no longer listed as the US distributor.

I got 2 IBU pro units from him. I'm in Pa. Those por units work great.

I got an IBU3 from Ian and have had some troubles. I haven't messed with it in a few weeks but last time It wouldn't start the motors. I'll give it another go. I think with a futaba system this time.

Good luck.

Did you possibly set one of the radio switches to be the master volume?

An update. While I appreciate all the kind offers to buy the board from me, I sent it back to IBU and they found that the board did indeed have a defective sound chip, and have repaired and returned it to me.
