Heng Long smoker

Post by bowlingball »

New tank, fitted with a fan rather than the pistol style pump I've seen on other posts. Upgraded? Problem is smoke output is feeble and only from one outlet. I've checked the black pipes, they're OK. Using Haya smoke fluid. Any suggestions on how to boost smoke output and from both pipes?

the motor and blower fan is the new style thats been around since V6 at least.

as for smoke output you'll most likely have to open the tank up and then the smoker itself. good chance that the smoker is flooded, one of the pipes is blocked, or something else.

secondly if you have V7 i have noticed that when the tank is idle it lowers the fans rpm equaling less smoke.

If it is a fan is it one of the Tarr units? And is it the tamiya controller? If so I can't help as I only know about the taigen/hanglong controllers. but if you can say what the brands and versions you have it will help a lot.

Good evening, is there anything obstructing the second pipe?
do not expect a powerful output on this kind of smoker either, also avoid overfilling the tank !!!

It's a Heng Long Sherman, the controller is V7. 0, and the fan does increase with motor revs. The pipes from the smoker are not blocked.
I'll open it up, 4 small screws on the top, I assume.
Pad is soaked through, which I guess is not good.. Element looks OK.

OK, drop of oil in one outlet at the top of the smoke box. All OK now.
Thanks folks.

Sorry. Didn't see the photo. So my comment is not relevant and I though it was something different

if only one pipe comes out of smoke? there is necessarily an obstruction on one of the two pipes on the casing, manufacturing defect or not? or the wick which blocks the passage, in any case it will be necessary to open, to understand.
take advantage of this, to also check the correct operation of the fan, improperly made hole, or remains of molding (plastic) which partially obstructs, ditto on the suction side

I run all my wads soaked all the way through.

And as you say it works now so that's good. In the future when it stops smoking out of both holes I usually put a straw in one hole and blow till smoke comes out the other and then switch, 60% of the time works everytime.
