Bogie wheels for Jagdpanzer IV

Post by BarryC »

Howdy!

Studying pictures and drawing of the Jagdpanzer IV most all were built with "all" Steel Wheels (no tire) on the 1st Bogie set on each side.

Does anyone know of a source for these?

TIA,
Barry

The Tamiya 1/16 Jagdpanzer is equipped with rubber tires from stem to stern, however, it did see this pic of the 1/35 Tamiya version minus front rubber tyres:

Having looked the the parts list for the Panzer IV/Jagdpanzer IV (Lang), I could'nt see a tyreless wheel option. Could be wrong, of course. :)

I picked up the Tamiya 1/35 kit for reference and it has the steel wheels as the pic you posted shows.

I suspect that the Tamiya 1/16 kit has the same wheels as their Pz IV kit, likely the same sprues.

I might have to turn my own. :eh:

I built my Tamiya PZ IV entirely from spares and donations, Barry. A process that needed lots of digging and researching, and can confirm that the wheels appear to have identical sprues. There may be a few German specialists who have produced the metal wheels. I'll have a look. I don't have the Jagdpanzer IV manual, but it's almost certain that an alternative wheel option won't be in it.
Here's a build from earlier in the year, as a reminder of how attractive the model can be  :

Someone here was looking for them back in 2013. It seems Asiatam.de used to make them.

Well at least someone did make them.

I think I can modify the existing Tamiya wheel and get a pretty accurate rendering.

Hi Barry,

MKModellbau do them mate, see here...

https://mk-modellbau.de/main_bigware_34 ... degenerate

For the record, most late Jagdpanzer IV's were fitted with the steel wheels on the front station but not all were. You can get away with using what's in the kit if that's what you want to do...

Cheers,
Brendon.
