But I can't see the actual rods/bars for sale.
If you can't get the actual bars, purchase some piano wire the same diameter, that's if you're willing and able to do any required bends. Piano wire the same diameter should work close to the originals. If they are slightly softer, put them near the centre. If they are slightly stiffer, put them at the extreme front and back.
Also, a tight fitting piece of brass tube over the collets will add some strength to the weak metal they're made from.
