Another member of the Forum found out the hard way and ended up talking to Heng Long looking for a resolution.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Well that's poop. I may then be back to buying individual parts from that bear to keep the costs down.

I found a V6.0S transmitter and receiver combo on Banggood for 65 euros, likewise on AliExpress. A steel gearbox with motors with set you back around 25 euros on AliExpress, and there are several sellers on AliExpress that sell the whole cable/wire/smoker/IR set o for around 30 euros.

That one won't drive the recoil motor, you need a different MF unit for that...
(The correct DMD-03 + MF01 combo do seem to come up more frequently on Ebay than any other set, and usually cheaper than the brand new cost of the competing Clark/IBU/El-Mod units, but as noted before you are stuck with having to use the Tamiya flash unit which is hard to get hold of)

Thanks Rob but I'm no longer buying from outside the UK.
Jofaur, again you are very helpful, thank you.
Tiger6, cheers.

:) Why would that not work? Apart from the recoil system, and the Tamiya flash which will not be adaptable to this electronics. It will be a "Basic" system but will work, it will just be necessary to adapt a recoil / elevation in the turret , and for having done it, I confirm that there is a lot of work, but feasible, everything depends on what our friend, wants to do, with this tank, either to have fun with it, or to want to reproduce a historical model. ?

Cheaper is good thank you.
I just want to get the Panzer marching again in honour of my late father in law who it belonged to. If I can have some fun and be reasonably historically correct at the same time well thats a bonus.

 Everything to your credit .... if I understood correctly, the existing boxes are no longer functional? the tracks are in principle plastic, if original?
here are some pictures that I had taken for my KT Tam.
original Heng Long support, cut in the middle and lengthen by aluminum 1.5 mm

The worries ? is that the tamiya axis has 2 m?flats for the Sprocket, and HL 1 only? then either make (with a file) the second flat, or use HL sprockets if compatible with existing tracks? in my case the metal tracks from RC Tank.de, work with Tam toothed wheels.
on the other hand, it is possible for you to keep the existing system of rotation, and elevation, you will just have to adapt the connection on the plate.
