Taigen Wiring

Post by c.rainford73 »

I've been working on adding a Taigen IR metal sherman turret to my Mato sherman that I've rewired and have run into a problem. The wiring harness for the 360 turret has a coax machine gun so heres where I'm at...

I'm using an older style designed daughter board.

1.I assume the 3 pin connector red and black is the machine gun so thats not a problem. ( I think)

2. I know where the two 5 pin connections go to on my IBU.

3. Individual blue wire is my negative.

4. The last 3 pin wire is my issue. Yellow brown and black

I know it powers the gun elevation bit according to taigen one wire is gun fire?

So here's my question...

If I utilize two wires to power gun elevation where does the third one go to?

I know the standard taigen daughter board has a place for this 3 pin setup on the upper hull.

I guess I could just order a proper tiagen daughter board they are cheap about 5 bucks.

I was hoping to use my existing daughter board and just place the wires in proper locations.

Not sure what each of those 3 wires go yellow brown and black Image

The hull upper daughter daughter board pics attached. ImageImageImageImage

I obviously have a spot for a 2 pin connector for gun elevation on my daughter board. Where would the 3rd wire from the 3 pin connector go if I simply soldered it?

With some testing I've found that the 3 pin connector shares gun recoil and elevation. Black brown and yellow wires.

The outer yellow and black are elevation. The center brown lead is recoil.

I assumption is they are sharing a common + or -

Good Morning Carl!
You have learned quite a bit about that Taigen wiring setup just from working with it. Now save yourself the headache of issues down the line ( like when I updated the wiring in my old MATO M4A176(W) and tried to use the existing board ) 5.00 or some one here having a spare and you will sleep soundly for years to come. Thanks for chronicling your work so effectively with great close-up photos. ;o)
regards,
Painless

I agree. I figured this question has been asked before and if I document my work someone may find it useful

sorry got that wrong.

Your three pin plug has 1 positive 2 negative the positive powers both the elevation motor and the recoil motor the negatives are 1 each for recoil and elevation not sure which way round. The red and black on the 3 pin plug is for the turret machine gun and connects with your hull machine gun

Appears you've nailed it John. The brown wire powers the recoil mechanism. Crazy Joe's cousin Pistol Pete approves. Once I sort each ( -) for the elevation and recoil I'm all set ImageImage
