I am genuinely surprised that you managed to paint an Abrams with just 3 Tamiya Rattle cans let alone multiple coats BUT well done you
I do use Metal Primer spray cans for metal hulls and turrets but usually I use a bottle of metal primer to brush paint the detail.

I like to keep the coats very light so as not to obscure any of the fine surface details, then weather using oils etc & seal with clear.

I’ve never used krylon paint, but on the forums I see it’s got mixed reviews, compatibility with other types of paints seems to be the main problem. Best to do a compatibility test with the paints your going to be using first before using it on your model.

Is there any particular brand primer that you use for brush painting onto the metal parts, I'd be very interested to know

Good Morning Lee, Happy New Year,
I use
"MR METAL PRIMER-R"
I have been in this madness that we laughingly call a hobby for more years than I want to think of and I am on my third little bottle,
It is expensive but it really does last
One of those rare items in the tool box I call essential.
Cellolose thinners to clean the brush not acrylic.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:
