HLong Tiger 1

Post by Rhat33 »

Hi, me again. The one who is trying to piece together a HL Tiger 1.

I've managed to test both the turret turn and the elevator, both motors work. I've even tested each in turn in the far left of the 8 pin connector (on the hull end, bypassing any other cabling just in case there is a dodgy connection) so that I can confirm that the transmitter works with both.

I have a problem where the elevator or the turret turn, doesn't work in pins 3 or 4 (from left). I've had a look at the transmitter (crystal type) and nothing looks loose or rusty. Does anyone know if there is a way to test the mfu, other than the basic tests I've been doing ?

I've even checked the web for various info, apart from getting even more confused with the schematics everyone has posted about the wiring, they all seem different, even though they say they are for a HL Tiger 1 :-(

The current info I'm working on is shown attached.

Thanks

Hi, The later Heng Long Daughter Board has 2 levels of 8 contacts,
On the top line is an 8 pin socket which is immediately above the 8 contacts of your plan,
Into that upper socket goes the main Umbilical cable which connects to the 8 pin socket in the Hull mounted MFU.
Below the top line is the 8 terminals that are listed on your plan,
The terminals that are listed on your plan have been transposed,
The correct wiring to the 8 contacts is as follows-------
The group of 3 contacts on the left of the daughter board are------
Far left is the Live Headlight,
Next is the Headlight and Hull MG both using the central Shared Earth,
Then the last of the group of 3 contacts is the Live Hull MG.
In the middle of the daughter board is the 3 pin which on the later Heng Long Daughter Board is 3 vertical pins into which a 3 hole cable connects the Main Gun and Main Gun Elevation from the Turret.
On the right of the daughter board is the 2 pin turret rotation motor contacts.
If you turn the daughter board over you can follow the soldered connections on the lower level up to the respective contacts for the main umbilical plug.
Dave @ www.forgebeartanks.com carries a range of Daughter boards from different eras of the Heng Long range,
As they only cost pennies you might like to do what I do and buy a few different ones.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Cheers Jarndice,

I'll speak to Dave and put in an order :-)
Just for info, after I've followed the cabling in the diagram I've posted, I can use the joystick on my transmitter and when pushing either left or right (with the turret turn connected), the motor responds. If I then take you advice, and transpose the cabling, won't the signal (via the transmitter for turret turn), then be activating the lights, and vice versa ?
Will try anyway and see what happens :-)
Thanks for the advice, speak to you soon
