Tiger I antenna mount

Post by Ragnar »

Is it possible to use the molded on antenna mount on the Taigen metal Tiger I mid to add an antenna spring and antenna, seems awful small to be able to drill an 1.5 mm hole in order to fit the spring.
Thinking the antenna mount On the right hand side Was made undersized.....
If that’s the case anyone know where an antenna mount is available?
Just realized the mount doesn’t show on this picture.

Good morning!
Those mounts should work for the addition of the scale radio antenna for the Tiger. The pics show the Schumo antenna mount for the Tiger 1. I have added a red rubber cover for the spring that was painted black during final detail painting.

My modification on the excellent Schumo antenna is plain to see. It can now bend aside as the mighty 88s barrel sweeps past..jpg

Here’s my Aber antenna and mount. Very sturdy. Kinda ugly but the harsh Russian winters play hell on the equipment.

I am having trouble working out why a Tiger 1 Radio Aerial would have a "Spring"?
One of the best representations of a Tiger 1 Radio Aerial is the MK Modellbau unit as sold by http://www.forgebeartanks.com and it does not have or need a spring.
The reason why the aerial had a wing nut holding it in the mounting was so it could be removed before battle and placed in the adjacent aerial stowage tube.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

That’s the one I have. I maybe was wrong about Aber. I will say that Jarndice was instrumental in my Tiger 1 build and I advise you to heed his word for the most satisfying build result. I also recommend you scratch build the antenna tube to stand off from the deck a bit. It looks cool and is one more step towards detail authenticity.

Just an example of my humble efforts. Your later version will have the tube positioned differently so be sure to check with prototype photos of your tank. Image

Good evening all,
I modded the Schumo mount. I wanted to be able to run the tank with the antenna in place and if I happened to rotate past it, not break it off. Mikes Tiger 1 ( Early ) was built the same way. My mod looks the 'part' and adds an extra measure of non-broken as well.
